CAT SHOWS
Washta Bay Siberian Cats

Our cats are shown in both the Cat Fancier's Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA).

What Happens at Cat Shows?
The following pictures are from Rosinka's first show as a kitten, the 2010 CFA Midwest Regional Awards Show in Marion, Illinois.

Below is what I would consider a typical view of a cat show - rows and rows of many breeds of cats, and some really great vendors.  You can usually find about anything related to cats, from cat toys to cat trees to great grooming products at your local cat shows.  The next Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) show in the Minneapolis area is on September 25, 2010.  We are currrently planning on showing both Junona and Rosinka at this show.  If you are interested in providing a forever home for a Siberian kitten, this would be a great time to see both of our girls in person!

Cats, kittens and alters are shown in multiple rings with multiple judges each day.  Once they are called to a ring, they wait in their cages for the judge to see them.  In the photo below, Rosinka (24) is patiently waiting for the judge to see her, along with an older male Siberian kitten.

A judge examines all cats in the same breed to determine how well they conform to breed standards.  Here, the judge is talking about Rosinka and about what he looks for in a Siberian cat.  In these two poses, he is talking about the very round facial structure a Siberian will have, along with a nice, stocky body.

Each judge will honor a "Best of Breed."  They will then decide on the overall best cats, alters, and kittens (they are all judged in separate competitions) of all breeds to determine the "Best of Show" finals.  Personalities are not to be used as a determining factor in the judges decision, except for household pets competitions.

In between rings, everyone generally relaxes and has fun until it is grooming time again and we need to see the next judge.  Here, Rosinka is makin' eyes at a cute Persian across the row from her.  We also keep her busy with LOTS of new cat toys and naps.

We are considering attending some of the following shows, but final decisions will not be made until closer to show time.
